Dr Leigh Sanyaolu is a General Practitioner in South Wales and a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of Population Medicine at Cardiff University.
He completed a PhD investigating the management of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) in primary care and continues to lead research aimed at improving the recognition, prevention, and management of this common condition. His research has included studies exploring the burden of recurrent UTIs and the development of resources to support shared decision-making in clinical practice.
Alongside his clinical and research work, he regularly delivers educational sessions on recurrent UTI management for healthcare professionals across Wales and England. He works closely with members of the public, clinicians, and policymakers to support evidence-based management of recurrent UTIs and improve patient-centred care in primary care settings.
